Finally got my lazy fingers to write smth down here.
3rd and 4th Jan went down to Pulau Hantu with a few freinds and a few family. Jiayin, Weiting, Brandon, Seth and XiaoWei were there. My parents and two other couples and their granddaughter were there too. But literally, for the whole trip my family left us alone to do everything, well at least most of the things.
Weiting met me at mi place to help carry stuffs, than we went to Pasir Panjang Ferry terminal to unload the tonnes of things that we had. After which, me and ting drove to vivo to meet the rest and get a few last minute stuffs. Around 245 pm we were all ready to board the boat and was standing at the pontoon. We were all trying to get use to the wavy feeling and were almost 'high'. Brandon found a vomiting partner----> weiting!! no, but they didnt vomit. And so, we entertained ourselves while waiting for the boat.
Pulau Hantu look so beautiful from afar. Even more enticing when we are on it. And so we were competing against each other to see who pitches their tent first. Gals vs Guys!! as usual, we won.. hehe.. By right, we were suppose to look for woods for BBQ after pitching, BUT the water was so inviting and we all jumped straight in.. ahhhhh.. niceeee.. By the time we were done and suppose to look for woods, we were a lil late.. mi uncle found a whole bunch of twigs and we only found.. a few?? So. to compensate for our lag-ness we collected our natural mosquitoe repellent. Well not of us, most of them were helping ting collect saga seeds -_-..
And so begins our fire saga!! we t00k very long to set up a decent fire to bbq and even longer to maintain it. But hey, it wasnt that easy, we had no charcoal. We could only use, kerosene, twigs, 'natural mosquito repellent', dried leaves and a lighter. By the time we manage to maintain the heat, everyone was freaking hungry.. There were a few times when we were bbq-ing that we had to lift the mesh up and restart the fire coz there was no heat!! In the end we did manage to finish the chickens, even tho some tasted like kerosene, through a game of old skool, oh-a-pei-ya-som!!
The atmosphere there at night is very diff. there wasnt any lights so we had to light up and maintain a few kerosene lamps. Since we were very far frm the toilet and we cant even see the toilet frm where we are, we all had to do our business at the jetty. It was hilarious!!! Throughout the nite, we played diff lame games to entertain ourselves but the guys fell asleep first!! While we gals were pretty much awake, smth happened, but we survived.. lol..
We didnt really sleep, so we decided to catch the sunrise. Since it was pretty cloudy, we only ray the ray of the sunrise. But the transformation o the sky when it was breaking dawn was simply beautiful.
Morning was simple, we remembered to brush our teeth and wash our face, smth tt we skipped the prev nite. We ate fried rice while sun tanning. At least the rice will remain heated.. haha.. It was low tide tt morning so we cant swim, but!! we played games in the water.. B4 we do that, we crossed the big lagoon to the other island. (xiao wei went back to sleep -_-) the journey was a game of following the leader. A that island, we discovered smth, ting and seth is ard the same weight, ting is stronger than me n yin combine and also Brandon is HEAVY!! *grinsss* And So We manage to go and come back before the tides rose. After quite some time of games, it was time to look for coconuts.
We had to look for wood to put the cutter in, look for ripe coconuts.. Brandon was our coconut man for the day. Since he was the tallest, he's always the one to reach out n cut those nuts. Seth is usually the one to hammer those nails in and gentle ting is the one to cut the coconuts. Dun mess with her, she's pretty good with the axe. Yin had to be the one to navigate brandon to aim and cut the stem of the nut. Our first taste of our first victorious coconut (which came in 3) was pretty unique, it was gas-sy but tasted ok.
After all the hunting and chopping and cutting, we rushed to un-pitch our tent and shower. The boat ride back was a sleepy one. most of us, except brandon and xiaowei, fell asleep.
During the trip we saw a few jetskis, boats, wakeboarders that either hang ard at the lagoon or near the island. During one of the days, we spotted an unattended jetski at the opposite lagoon. Well, we thought we could hijack it but alas, the owner was somewhere near snorkeling. There goes our opportunity. *haiz*
To sum up the trip, it was Back to Basics. But it was an enjoyable one indeed. Thx guys!!
